Handing over/selling a vehicle for dismantling

You can drop off your end-of-life vehicle for free at our facilities throughout Slovenia. We also purchase newer damaged or broken-down vehicles.

Handing over an end-of-life vehicle

The end-of-life vehicle is worn out and unfit for safe driving, so the last owner decides to send it for dismantling (most often these are older vehicles or those with high mileage).

Sale of a damaged or malfunctioning vehicle

A damaged vehicle is so badly damaged that repair is either impossible or not cost-effective. This primarily applies to newer vehicles that, despite the damage, still have market value and for which there is high demand for parts.

What do you need to bring with you?

To quickly and legally complete the paperwork for selling a vehicle, you will need the following:

Identification document

A personal identification document or a power of attorney from the vehicle owner.

Traffic Permit

A vehicle registration certificate or other document containing the vehicle’s details.

Car keys

All vehicle keys must be handed over to the contractor at the time of vehicle delivery.

When you drop off a vehicle, it’s not just a matter of “someone driving it away.”

If you hand over your vehicle to the wrong person, you may face consequences long afterward:

You will remain on the list

You will remain listed as the owner in the vehicle registration records.

You pay tax on a deregistered vehicle

You become liable to pay tax on deregistered vehicles.

You will not receive a refund

You forfeit the right to a refund for the unused portion of the insurance, vignette, or road tax.

Don’t fall victim to the black market. Check the receipts you need to collect at every step.

Check the recipient

Check whether your company has the status of an authorized vehicle dismantling operator. The permit must be issued by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Energy.

Request a decommissioning certificate

The certificate must include your name and address, as well as the vehicle details.

With this official document, you can:

Don’t forget: You must initiate the cancellation yourself through POR

In Slovenia, the owner must personally handle the scrapping and deregistration of the vehicle at the registration office (using the POR certificate). Do not assume that the recipient will take care of this for you.
