ELVAS-GIZ is the umbrella association of authorized dismantlers of end-of-life vehicles in Slovenia. We ensure that every vehicle is dismantled in accordance with the strictest environmental standards, while also making it easy for owners to hand over their vehicles for dismantling and to handle the necessary paperwork.

The dismantling process consists of the following steps:
– The owner delivers the vehicle to an authorized dismantling facility. If the vehicle is not roadworthy, some facilities may offer free pickup.
– Upon handing over the vehicle, the owner receives a certificate of destruction (certificate of dismantling).
– With the certificate of dismantling, the owner deregisters the vehicle at the administrative unit or registration authority
To have a vehicle sent for dismantling, the last owner of the vehicle must submit:
– A personal identification document (ID card or passport)
– The vehicle registration certificate
– A power of attorney, if someone else is submitting the vehicle on behalf of the owner
After receiving the certificate of dismantling, the owner must deregister the vehicle at the local administrative office or registration agency. When deregistering, the owner must submit:
– Certificate of dismantling
– Vehicle registration certificate
– License plates
If an annual toll has been paid for the vehicle, the owner may request a refund for the unused portion from the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS) when deregistering the vehicle.If a valid insurance policy is in place, the owner may claim a refund of the proportional portion of the insurance premium from their insurance company.
Yes, if your vehicle is scrapped, you can request a refund for the unused portion of the annual vignette. Monthly and weekly vignettes are not eligible for a refund.

Send the application to the DARS address listed on the form.
DARS calculates the refund based on the remaining validity of the vignette.
The refund amount is transferred to the vehicle owner’s bank account.
Authorized centers ensure the environmentally sound dismantling of vehicles, which means:
proper handling of hazardous fluids (oil, fuel, coolant), recycling of usable materials (metals, plastics, batteries), prevention of environmental pollution, and reuse of used spare parts.
